Welcome to your Turks & Caicos excursion to Little Water Cay, the beautiful and wild island! This small island, aptly nicknamed the “Iguana Island”, is home to the critically endangered Turks & Caicos Rock Iguana.
Formerly residents of all the Turks & Caicos Islands, dogs and cats introduced to the island have left all but Little Water Cay barren of these prehistoric-looking creatures.
Family Excursion to Little Water Cay
A particular favourite among families, your excursion to Little Water Cay will likely take little more than a half day, and the boat ride will be a quick ~15km journey there and back.
- On Grace Bay Beach, just outside of the Alexandra Resort, you’ll board one of our tour boats.
- Once boarded, your excursion will take you through the aquamarine waters all along Grace Bay Beach to the north-eastern point of Providenciales.
- You’ll then round the tip of Providenciales and navigate through the half-kilometre channel that separates Provo and Little Water Cay.
- Then you’ve arrived! After a quick journey by sea, you’ll dock at the southern entrance to the island.
Once you arrive at Little Water Cay, you’ll have the opportunity to wander along the boardwalks that loop through the nature reserve and see the Turks & Caicos Islands in their truly wild state. And you’ll be accompanied by this species of iguana seen nowhere else in the world.
A customized half day boat excursion to Iguana Island with Caicos Dream Tours will also feature snorkeling, swimming, and picnic stops along the way.
